Authentic Caesar Salad Recipe

Ingredients

For the Dressing:
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste (or 2-3 anchovy fillets, minced)
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For the Salad:
  • 1 large head of Romaine lettuce, chopped or torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup croutons (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dressing:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the garlic, anchovy paste, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
    • Add the mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese, and whisk until well combined.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Prepare the Lettuce:

    • Wash and dry the Romaine lettuce. Tear or chop it into bite-sized pieces and place it in a large salad bowl.
  3. Assemble the Salad:

    • Drizzle the dressing over the lettuce. Toss gently to coat the leaves evenly.
    • Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and croutons.
  4. Serve:
